Are DIANA and the NATO Innovation Fund related?

DIANA is an official NATO body, supported by 32 Allied Nations. A broad description of DIANA's activities can be found above.

The NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) is a privately-owned, for-profit entity which has received approval to use the NATO name. NIF is a standalone venture capital fund, and its capital comes from 24 sovereign countries in the NATO alliance. NATO as an organisation is not invested financially or involved in decision-making.

DIANA and the NIF are two legally separate entities, with different mandates and activities working toward a common purpose. Since many of the NATO Allied nations investing in the NIF are also DIANA stakeholders, the two organisations are collaborating on supporting innovators with their funding needs and with their efforts to commercialise, scale and implement their technologies.

The NATO Innovation Fund is under no legal obligation to invest in DIANA selected innovators but can decide to do so if one of the DIANA selected innovators falls within their investment targets.
